About me

Hello, I’m a passionate ESL teacher with 20 years of experience, including a strong focus on online education since 2017 specializing in IELTS preparation and conversational English for all ages. I hold degrees in Secondary Education and Speech and Theater, which enrich my teaching approach. I am committed to creating an engaging and supportive environment where each student can thrive. I look forward to this exciting journey in English learning with you!

My journey began as an IELTS Trainer at the Nurse Care Review Center in Davao City, where I developed comprehensive training programs to help students master the exam's requirements and gain confidence in their English skills.

I then transitioned to a role as a substitute English teacher, where I adapted lesson plans for various grade levels, honing my ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of students. My experience as a part-time college speech instructor at Silliman University allowed me to refine my focus on public speaking and communication skills, fostering confidence in my students as they prepared for academic and professional challenges.

From June 2011 to February 2013, I served as an Elementary Language and Reading Teacher at SLS-Don Bosco in Dumaguete City, where I not only taught language skills but also acted as a Class Adviser for Grade 4 students, guiding their academic and personal development. Following this, I provided tailored home tutorials for elementary subjects, alongside one-on-one IELTS preparation, emphasizing individualized instruction to meet each student's unique needs.

In my roles as a home-based ESL Educator for 51talk, Weblio, Novakid, and Bosker Academy, I have developed engaging online lessons for students of all ages, from children as young as seven to adults. I leverage my background in classroom teaching to create interactive and effective learning environments, using a variety of multimedia resources and teaching strategies.

I have been teaching for 20 years, including valuable experience in classroom settings. Since 2017, I have shifted my focus to online education, which has allowed me to reach a diverse range of students across the globe. I have had the pleasure of teaching children as young as seven, as well as adults, adapting my methods to suit the unique needs of each age group. Teaching is not just my profession; it is my passion and forte, and I find great fulfillment in helping my students grow and succeed in their language learning journeys.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Southeastern Philippines, where I studied from 2004 to 2005. Prior to that, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theater from Silliman University in Dumaguete City, which I completed between 1987 and 1992. My educational journey began at Ateneo de Davao University, where I obtained both my High School Diploma (1980–1984) and my Elementary Diploma. This diverse academic background has equipped me with a strong foundation in teaching and communication, enriching my approach to education and enabling me to effectively engage students at various levels.

When I'm not teaching, you can often find me immersed in a good series on Netflix. I love exploring different genres, from gripping dramas to lighthearted comedies, as it allows me to unwind and discover new stories and perspectives. It's the perfect way to relax and recharge for my next teaching adventure!
